Lawn Sod Installation

Our lawn installation service includes: removing and hauling away the old sod and soil as needed, roto-tilling its area, installing new topsoil or amending the existing soil, grading the ground for proper drainage, installing a selected finest quality turf locally grown in Washington. We guarantee the health and prospering of the grass for one year from a date we installed. Soil quality and proper preparation of the soil is the first step to achieve a healthy lawn. Correct soil condition more than anything assures that the grass will flourish in the long run. When replacing an old lawn, we improve the existing soil by amending with compost. When installing a new lawn, we provide a standard manufactured 3-ways topsoil (lawn topsoil) which contains compost, sandy loam, and peat moss. We place 4-5 inches high topsoil in the lawn area as the standard lawn installation procedure,. If you have been having a drainage issue where the new turf grass will be installed, then you need to schedule an on-site consultation to see what type of drainage system needs to be installed. Drainage problems should be solved during the initial design and construction phases of a project rather than afterwards. If you would like to install a lawn irrigation system, the best time to do this is before the new sod is placed on the ground.

Lawn Restoration

Lawn Restoration is a progress of replacing dead or bald patches of the lawn. There are many reasons you could have dead patches in your lawn; lack of water or nitrogen, drainage problems, insects, dog urination, sod contamination or soil compaction. Once we diagnosed the problem, we will inform you what needs to be done. Most of the problems can be fixed and prevented from happening again. There are two ways to prevent your lawn dying from your dog urinating; installing a lawn irrigation system, lawn watering will neutralize the urine content and prevent the burn spots. You can also give your dog a natural supplement urine neutralizer. You can find this at your local pet store includes NaturVet Grass Saver Natural Food Supplement and Grass be Green by Critter Concepts.

Shaded Grass

Like other turf grass suppliers in the Pacific Northwest, our lawn supplier company provides turf grass mixtures for both sun and light shade tolerant. If you have a tree that creates heavy shade, your grasses may not tolerate this location. Heavy shade caused by conifer trees such as a pine or cedar is worse, creating highly acidic soil condition that develops from dropping needles. Most grasses will not tolerate heavy acid levels and shade combined. In heavy shade locations you may be better off planting shade tolerant species such as shrubs or rock gardens rather than turf grasses.

HydroSeeding

We provide hydroseeding services in early spring and fall only, because these seasons are most conducive to growing vegetation. Soil preparation for hydro seeding is almost exactly the same as it is for sod. Once the soil is prepared, our certified hydroseeding service provider will spray the seed mixture best suited for your lawn application. You will receive a detailed instruction outlining watering, fertilizing and disease control procedures. Hydroseed is perishable and will die if it is not watered properly. Once we leave, it is the customer's job to participate in the growth process by watering the grass as outlined in the instructions. We DO NOT GUARANTEE the results in the growth process of hydroseeding. Include incidents such as torrential rains, hurricanes or acts of nature that are beyond our controls

Sodding vs. Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding takes much longer to establish a lawn and sod installing gives homeowners the instant gratification of a lush, green lawn. Generally, hydroseeding is cheaper than laying sod but it requires higher management and maintenance costs, compounded by increased water and chemical applications.  Multiple applications of chemicals usually required to combat competitive weed invasions until turf is well established. Hydroseeding may cause delays in using the lawn. The result could be poor uniformity and visually unappealing. Heavy rain or sloped areas can cause the soil, seed, chemicals and silt to wash onto sidewalks flowerbed areas and into street drainage systems. Sod installation costs are offset by added values of timing, usability, uniformity and visual appeal, reduced management and maintenance costs. If you have children or pets and have a small lawn area with less than 2000sq.ft, we recommend installing sod.
