Landscape groundcover materials such as beauty bark and garden mulch, not only provide a natural-looking environment for gardens, but also slow down weed growth, retain moisture on the ground in the summer, and protect plants from freezing in the winter. There are two ways to install the materials, for easy access area, we haul in the material with wheelbarrows. For an inaccessible area, it can be blown directly to the desired location by a blower truck, equipped with long hoses. At least 15cb. yards minimum are required to order application with a blower truck. Remember, hauling the material with a wheelbarrow is a fraction of the cost compared to blower truck service. Most landscape professionals recommend a depth of about 3" thick on the bare soil and 1 to 2” add-on to the previous installed material. One cubic yard of groundcover materials will cover an area measuring about 100-120 square feet. Weeds in the areas must be removed before placing the material. Weeds growing in bed areas can be also permanently eliminated, by covering the bed with a weed barrier and laying the area with beauty bark, steer co, or garden mulch. The weed barrier still allows water and air passage through the soil but does not allow the weeds to grow. Plants can be added later, by cutting a hole in the weed barrier before digging. Beauty Bark: Fir/Hemlock bark. 3” minus particle size. To be used as a top dressing for a more natural look or as a soil amendment. Dark Fine Mulch:  Fine Wood Chip Mulch, aged for a dark color. Recycled from trees, then screened to a small size, Dark Fine Mulch is a dark finish product with minimal nutrient content. Should be used as a top dress similar to Bark. Pacific Garden Mulch: A dark composted yard and garden waste that is very high in fertile nutrient elements, processed through a 1/2” screen. Excellent soil amendment or top dressing. Will also help to retain moisture. Screen Comp Mulch: Composted sawdust and cow/steer manure processed through 1/2” screen. Initially dark in color lightens to a light brown color. Excellent as a top dressing or soil amendment. Very high in nutrient elements and will assist in water retention. Nutrient Mulch: Composted chicken, horse and cow/steer manure processed through 1/2” screen. Due to the naturally high sand content of chicken manure this product has the consistency of soil. Excellent as a soil amendment used to add high levels of nutrients to the soil and increase water retention abilities. Wood Chip Mulch:  Ground land clearing with minimal nutrient content. Superb for erosion control or for a natural pathway. Cedar Chips: 2 1/2” cedar chips used as a ground cover in play areas, under swing sets, etc. Cedar retards the growth of vegetation. Helpful in dog runs to control fleas. For more information about bark installation or requesting an estimate, please contact us.
